Job Summary


We are looking for a National Business Development Manager to join Cara’s dynamic team of 30+ people, working out of our office in East Croydon, Greater London. The role will involve frequent travel throughout the UK & Ireland as well as regular overseas trips to the Caribbean, Mexico & Central America.


The primary purpose of this role is to create awareness and build knowledge of Cara Hotel Marketing’s client – AMResorts – in the UK & Irish market. This entails communicating with the travel trade to educate them about AMResorts’ brands and properties, as well as collecting market intelligence and identifying changing trends and new opportunities in the market.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong working relationships with the travel trade including travel agents, tour operators, tourist boards and the trade media
  • Regular travel agency and tour operator sales calls across the UK & Ireland
  • Creating and leading client product training presentations and webinars
  • Day-to-day management of a team of Regional Business Development Executives
  • Conceiving and rolling out large scale national events and dedicated AMResorts roadshows
  • Attending travel trade, consumer and media shows/events
  • Organising and hosting FAM trips to AMResorts’ destinations and properties
  • Coordinating and submitting regular written reports relating to Business Development activity
  • Signing off all marketing spend relating to travel agent training and events
  • Regular driving is required therefore a full and clean driving licence valid in the UK is essential (a company car will be provided)


Person Profile

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in the travel industry, ideally in a Business Development role
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others
  • Ability to travel frequently and work occasional evenings and weekends (time will be given back in lieu)
  • A confident, supportive and results-driven people manager
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive outlook
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy and varied role
  • A creative thinker who also has strong attention to detail
  • Network of industry contacts and relationships beneficial
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
