All things to everyone or the exclusive preserve of the few? Strictly sun and beach or an adrenaline-fuelled adventure? Home from home or a trip to the unknown?

With literally hundreds of islands under nearly 30 national flags, the Caribbean can truly be all of these things; the only limit for a holiday there is your imagination.

As you will read in this guide, 2017 is the Caribbean’s Year of Adventure. That could mean an island-hopping trip, a journey into a tropical rainforest, a thrilling ride through the jungle canopy or a roadtrip around some the region’s most beautiful towns and villages.

Or… you could do none of these things and still have a fantastic trip.

That’s the beauty of the Caribbean. With so many local and international hotel brands, the choice of places to stay is endless. This year also brings a raft of improvements and new openings, each of which can open a new window on a well-established, familiar destination.

The Caribbean will never be cheap but good value is easy to find – and as the birthplace of the all-inclusive concept, there’s an incredible variety on offer, whether in the bar, at the dining table or the sports club.

Dive in and see what suppliers and tourist boards have to say for 2017. If you thought you knew the Caribbean, it is changing all the time. If not, it is time to acquaint yourself!
