A look back at another successful year for WTM London.
WTM London 2019 proved it’s truly the event where ideas arrive, and this year we provided solutions for the travel industry’s development. This was the 40th Anniversary of WTM London and it was a show with a difference as celebrations took place across our regional inspiration zones, marking the significance of this anniversary. Everyone came together to celebrate, reconnect and see what the industry has to offer now and going forward.
WTM London’s event programme continued its advance to suit the modern trends in the tourism industry. There were talks on topics as diverse as aviation, LGBT travel, the rise of gastro-tourism and the crucial role that women play in the travel industry, creating a conference programme filled with fascinating content.
Responsible tourism, introduced to our programme 25 years ago, continues to be a driving force behind our event. Sustainable initiatives from across the world were celebrated at the Responsible Tourism Awards and the number of dedicated sessions on this topic increased yet again.
Technology was a hot topic, at both WTM London and the co-located Travel Forward event, with examples of artificial intelligence, biometrics, virtual assistants and new social media channels showing the future of the travel industry is technology.
We welcomed two new events this year that fall under the WTM portfolio. BorderlessLive, where content creators met the travel industry, and London Travel Week debuted to huge acclaim and will both be returning in an even bigger capacity in 2020.
With over £3.75 billion worth of deals being conducted at WTM London, this is certainly the must-attend business event for the travel and tourism industry. I am incredibly proud of all that WTM London has achieved in the last 40 years and I can’t wait to see how it develops over the next four decades.
