This is the start of our comprehensive WTM London Events programme, which includes more than 100 sessions covering all the major sectors of the industry including airlines and hotels and the important emerging niches of social media and blogging.

Today’s highlight is the UNWTO & WTM Ministers’ Summit. Now in its ninth year, it is a firm fixture in the ministers’ calendars with this year’s debate putting the spotlight on destination branding.

The new Gastronomy programme kicks off today at 12pm in South Gallery 22 and 23. And don’t miss the WTM 2015 Global Trends Report, in association with Euromonitor International, a session which takes place in Platinum Suite 1 at 3.30pm.

The report is celebrating its 10th edition and has a trend covering every region of the exhibition floor.

Sport as a vehicle for tourism is growing, as we have seen in the UK with the hosting of the Rugby World Cup. The sports programme starts by looking at innovation for sports tourism and events in Platinum Suite 1 at 2pm. Cruise is another growing sector and today’s session looks at how it is innovating to attract new customers. The session takes place at 12pm in South Gallery Room 15 and 16.

I hope you find the day stimulating and thought-provoking.

Simon Press

Senior exhibition director
