Welcome to WTM London 2017, at ExCeL, London. We have a packed day of business negotiations and thought-provoking content ahead. Starting with the WTM Speed Networking session before the exhibition floor opens at 10am, this session will kickstart the business discussion and be a catalyst for around £3 billion in deals being agreed over the next three days.

The speed networking allows exhibitors to spend the whole of the three days of the exhibition on their stand, giving them even more time to conclude deals with the near 10,000 WTM Buyers’ Club members in attendance.

Today is exhibitor invite-only, focused on business and, for our prestigious WTM Leaders’ Lunch, we will be addressing one of the key issues of the travel and tourism industry – Brexit.

So much legislation impacting the travel and tourism industry is linked to the European Union. The UK’s decision to leave the EU has led to a lot of uncertainty as to how the travel industry will look.

In the UK we continue to read stories that flights could be grounded when the UK leaves if a deal isn’t reached. Well, today the top 200 industry executives will find out the EU’s position on negations from Guy Verhofstadt, who is chief Brexit negotiator for the European Parliament.

In another keynote, Terry Jones, one of the forefathers of the online travel industry – who founded Travelocity – will discuss innovation in the sector on the Global Stage (AS1050) at 2pm.

This afternoon also sees British Airways chief executive Alex Cruz quizzed at 2.45pm in the Inspire Theatre (EU490).

I wish you all a successful WTM London 2017. “The WTM Leaders’ Lunch will address one of the key issues of the industry – Brexit”
