Check out our highlights round-up from the biggest WTM London show yet
Welcome to the first open day of WTM London 2017. Today the doors are open to the whole of the travel and tourism industry following an exhibitor invite-only day yesterday.
Today sees the start of our events programme, which includes 60 sessions. The day kicks off with the all-new, sector-specific speed networking. More than 100 buyers will be seated by sectors they purchase, which include group travel, adventure travel, responsible tourism and LGBTQ. The session starts at 9am, which, once again, is before the exhibition opens at 10am.
We also have today the 11th UNWTO & WTM Minsters’ Summit taking place on the Global Stage at 11am. The summit will focus on the all-important issue of overtourism, which has hit the headlines in the past year.
In the afternoon there is an invite-only session for investors and ministers to discuss how to develop the infrastructure for a successful tourism destination.
Today also sees the launch of a new report for WTM London – the Top 100 City Destination Report: WTM Edition, by Euromonitor International. This profiles the cities that will see a growth in tourism from 2017-2025; and the reasons behind the increases. This session is really not to be missed.
It takes place in the WTM Inspire Theatre (EU490) at 2.55pm.
Also new to WTM London this year is a report by Nielsen covering travel industry marketing and advertising spend. The report is unveiled in the Inspire Theatre at 11.30am.
Other sessions taking place today cover LGBTQ, youth travel, travel technology, and responsible tourism.
I hope you find the content of today both stimulating and thought provoking.
