Welcome to the first open day of WTM London 2018 – the event where “Ideas Arrive”. Today the doors open to the whole of the travel and tourism industry following an exhibitor-invite-only day yesterday.
Today sees our WTM London events programme continue across all our new regional Inspiration Zones. The day kicks off with sector-specific speed networking. More than 100 buyers will be seated by sectors they purchase, including group travel, responsible tourism and LGBT. The session starts at 9am; the exhibition opens at 10am.
Today also sees the 11th UNWTO & WTM Ministers’ Summit take place on the Global Stage at 11am, which focuses on the issue of Investment in Tourism Technology. We have improved the summit this year to increase private sector involvement.
Today is the most comprehensive day of content in the history of WTM London. Sessions are taking place across all five regional Inspiration Zones, the Global Stage and the Platinum Suite on a variety of subjects including responsible tourism, LGBT, technology, digital influencers and social media.
The International Media Centre will host a programme of research sessions across all three days, with Euromonitor International presenting on the megatrends shaping the future of travel.
I’m eagerly anticipating the inaugural International Travel & Tourism Awards at Tobacco Dock this evening. We have been overwhelmed with the quality of award applications, and it will be a celebration of the best in the travel industry.
I hope you find today’s content both stimulating and thought-provoking.
