For groups and families: The Maldives

Heralding Colours of Oblu’s newest brand in the Maldives, Oblu Xperience Ailafushi opened in June and promises playful tropical living aimed at large groups of friends and families. The 286-villa resort is located 15 minutes by speedboat from Male International airport. Under the Fushi Plan, dining, drinks and activities are all included. There are group Zumba classes, a kids’ club with daily organised activities and a 3D movie at The Dome, a futuristic entertainment centre, ensuring the young – and young at heart – have plenty to get stuck into.

For dining, guests can sample world cuisine at Element X Restaurant and fresh seafood at The Copper Pot and enjoy unlimited spirits, beers and house wine at X360 pool bar, while Ocean View family rooms are duplex-style featuring modern amenities, a master bedroom and bunk bed in the children’s room.

General manager Jorge Amaro says: “It is a youthful, joyous and energetic resort with a laid-back island-style vibe.”

Club Med Magna Marbella in Andalusia

For active travellers: Spain

As its name suggests, Magna Marbella is five minutes’ drive from the city and marks Club Med’s return to Spain for the first time in 20 years. Launched in May, the 486-key resort is located at the base of the Sierra Blanca peaks, offering a chance for clients to discover Andalusia’s natural beauty.

There are also five pools, a water park and a dedicated adults-only area. Dining options feature Mediterranean cuisine at Suenos plus Tierra Gourmet Lounge, while three bars serve fresh drinks and cocktails all day.

Acqua Spa at the O2 Beach Club & Spa in Barbados

For spa seekers: Barbados

Clients in need of R&R can head to the recently renovated O2 Beach Club & Spa in St Lawrence Gap, Barbados, which has unveiled its new full-service Acqua Spa.

Guests at the 130-room, five-star resort can enjoy gourmet cuisine, day activities and evening entertainment, pool and beach waiter service, non-motorised watersports and unlimited international and domestic spirits as part of their package.

The jewel in its crown, however, is the new 5,600-square-foot spa on the eighth floor of a nine-storey tower, with panoramic views of the Caribbean. It boasts the island’s only Hammam treatment room and features a spa culinary menu and wellness-themed sessions.

“The importance of health and wellness has grown exponentially, so we wanted to ensure that our new spa at the O2 Beach Club was a level above any other on the island,” says Patricia Affonso-Dass, group general manager of Ocean Hotels.
