Belmond Andean Explorer will operate along one of the world’s highest rail routes in the Peruvian Andes from May 2017.

The new train will have capacity for 68 guests in a range of en-suite cabins including two double cabins, 20 twin cabins and 12 bunk-bed style cabins for two people.

There will also be two dining cars, a lounge car and an observation car with an open-air deck for scenic viewing.

Four itineraries will be on offer including a one-night ‘Spirit of the Andes’ trip from Lake Titicaca to Cusco, and a two-night, three-day ‘Peruvian Highlands’ journey from Cusco to Lake Titicaca and Arequipa.

Prices start from $462pp (£320pp) for the one-night ‘Spirit of the Andes’ journey, including all meals, open bar and excursions.
Belmond Andean Explorer will be owned by PeruRail, a joint venture between Belmond and Peruvian investors, and will be operated by Belmond.

The company already operates seven luxury trains around the world including Belmond Hiram Bingham in Peru.
