Campbell Gray Hotels will reopen the beachside hotel and golf course on the Isle of Islay, part of the Inner Hebrides, in “late” August.

The Machrie, which has been closed for several years, has undergone a complete renovation and expansion. When it reopens, the hotel will feature 47 rooms, suites and lodges, some of which will include their own kitchens and terraces.

The hotel will also feature a restaurant overlooking the modernised golf course’s 18th hole.

Other facilities at The Machrie will include four lounges and bars, each featuring their own fireplaces, while there will also be a spa with two treatment rooms, plus a sauna and gym. A private screening room will be available for both guests and visitors.

Gordon Campbell Gray, founder of Campbell Gray Hotels, said: “The scenery, the wildlife, the coastline, one of the finest links courses in the world, coupled with the people, and, of course, its positioning in the Inner Hebrides makes it the perfect place to stay and to explore other nearby islands.”

Campbell Gray Hotels runs five hotels including The Phoenicia in Malta, Le Gray Beirut and The Merchant House in Bahrain.

Rates at The Machrie start at £145 per room per night in winter, with summer rates from £235.
