Capella Hotels and Resorts has launched a series of new community-focused initiatives at five of its properties, including several projects to help local children.
The luxury hotel group said the initiatives at its Singapore, Ubud, Shanghai, Sanya and Dusseldorf properties renewed its “commitment to socially-conscious travel and charitable endeavours”.
The brand is also introducing “Our Community Promise”, which will see hotel staff serve as mentors to local children through supporting school projects and “helping to build a strong sense of community for a sustainable future”.
Projects at the five hotels include:
Capella Ubud in Bali is donating 1% of revenue from all online bookings in December to Trash Hero Indonesia, which helps communities to clean the local environment. The money raised will support the Trash Hero Kids programme designed to educate children on waste management and sustainability.
Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li is working with World of Art Brut Culture to provide free art courses for people with mental disabilities. As part of the partnership, local children will also create ornamental Christmas cards that will be used to decorate the hotel’s Christmas tree.
In Dusseldorf, Capella Breidenbacher Hof is backing local charity KIDsmiling, which offers “meaningful” experiences to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, including cooking classes with chef Philipp Ferber in the hotel kitchen.
Capella Sanya is supporting Qiongzhong Women’s Football Team and the nearby Chiling Primary School, while Capella Singapore has been raising money for the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Singapore’s programme to eliminate plastic pollution.
