Caribbean resort launches competition for ‘sustainability advisor’

The winner will receive a stay at the Relais & Chateaux member during which they can discuss ways for the property to take further measures to improve the environment.

Those entering the contest have to post a picture on Instagram showing them taking part in an eco-friendly activity, such as recycling, reducing carbon emissions or cutting down on plastic use.

The winner will be given a five-night stay with full board at Eden Roc at Cap Cana, including a food-sourcing trip with the resort’s chef and a meeting with the management team to reveal their ideas on improving sustainability.

Eden Roc has already undertaken a range of sustainability initiatives itself, including the banning of plastic straws in restaurants and bars, providing glass instead of plastic bottles and using electric golf buggies to get around the resort.

There are also new Slow Food Monday and Menus for Change dishes, which include a variety of sustainable, signature recipes featured throughout the hotel’s restaurants. Oil used at the resort is also being transformed into soap and fuel, while ‘head to tail’ zero waste menus are available using locally sourced, sustainable fishing.

To enter the prize draw, future sustainability advisors need to go to the resort’s Instagram page @edenroccapcana and upload an image, using the tag @edenroccapcana and hashtag #EcoEdenRoc. The winner will be selected at random.

Entries have to be submitted by August 31, 2018, and the winner will be notified via Instagram. Flights are not included as part of the prize.
