Crystal Cruises unveils onboard plans for expedition ship

The expedition ship, Crystal Endeavor, which is due to be launched in 2020, is being billed as the “the largest, most spacious expedition yacht in the world”.

Crystal Serenity will also undergo a major refurbishment later this year when it goes into dry dock for three weeks in October.

Tom Wolber, Crystal’s president and chief executive, unveiled further details of both projects at the Seatrade show in Miami this week.

The 100-suite Crystal Endeavor will be equipped with the latest technology enabling the ship to operate in the icy waters of the polar regions.

Dining options will include speciality restaurants such as Prego and Nobu Matsuhisa’s Umi Uma, as well as the Waterside main dining area.

Endeavor will also feature a two-storey solarium pool deck, several lounges including the Helicopter Lounge, casino, fitness centre and spa with steam and sauna facilities.

Crystal Serenity’s refurbishment will “transform” the ship’s suites, restaurants and public spaces, as well as introducing technological advances.

Changes will include the introduction of 36 Penthouses and two Penthouse Suites that will replace the existing verandah staterooms.

Open-seating dining will also be launched onboard Serenity to offer more flexibility to passengers, while Waterside will replace the current dining room and The Marketplace and Churrascaria will also be introduced in the existing Lido Cafe.

The ship’s public spaces, such as the Palm Court, Stardust Club and Computer University@Sea, will also be refreshed.

Crystal Serenity will return to service after its refurbishment on November 10, 2018, for an itinerary sailing from Lisbon to Fort Lauderdale.
