Iberostar to open first luxury Cuba hotel

The opening of Iberostar Grand Packard in historic Old Havana is set to take place during the final three months of the year when it will become Iberostar’s first luxury hotel in Cuba.

The property will offer 321 rooms and suites, including the exclusive Star Prestige area - a separate part of the hotel offering special services to guests.

Grand Packard will also feature six restaurants, three bars, spa and fitness room, as well as hosting regular events including live music and dance shows.

The hotel is one of eight new properties being opened by Iberostar in Cuba.

Cuba is undergoing a major period of hotel development with the island aiming to add 100,000 new hotel rooms by 2030.

Melia Hotels International is becoming one of the major players in Cuba with two huge new properties – Melia Internacional in Varadero (934 rooms) and Paradisus Los Cayos in Cayo Santa Maria (802 rooms) – due to open later this year.

This is in addition to five smaller properties Melia has already opened this year in Cienfuegos and Camaguey.
