Your chance to visit South Africa with SunLux Collection and South Africa Airways on the ttgluxury Experience

South Africa is a place on many people’s bucket list and for our latest ttgluxury Experience, we are looking for four agents to take with us to explore this spectacular country for themselves.

On the trip, agents will stay two nights at The Table Bay hotel in Cape Town, twinned with a two-night stay at The Palace of the Lost City, which is nestled in an extinct volcanic crater surrounded by the Pilanesberg National Park.

Come to Cape Town

Come to Cape Town

Beautiful Cape Town has a stunning coastal location, a great food and drink scene and provides a springboard for exhilarating activities, such as a cable car trip to the top of Table Mountain, now recognized as a New7Wonder of Nature.

Against this iconic backdrop sits The Table Bay hotel, the glittering southern star of the SunLux Collection and one of the top five-star hotels in Cape Town.

The Table Bay hotel was opened in 1997 by Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s former president and global inspiration, and when staying at the hotel, guests will certainly enjoy a truly authentic South African experience.

The hotel boasts 329 rooms and suites, the Camissa brasserie, a spa and a lounge that’s perfect for enjoying afternoon tea. And if food’s your thing, the hotel now offers the Fynbos Foraging Trail, offering expeditions to explore Cape Town’s “natural outdoor market” with executive chef, Jocelyn Myers-Adams.

Located at the historic V&A Waterfront, the hotel provides a perfect base for exploring the city, as well as a gateway into the abundant wonders of the Western Cape Province.

The Palace of the Lost City

The Palace of the Lost City

The second part of the ttgluxury Experience trip will see agents flown to Pilanesberg for a stay at The Palace of the Lost City, another of South Africa’s iconic hotels, offering a range of life-enhancing experiences.

The Palace of the Lost City is set within the famous Sun City resort, which has a range of 101 different activities available.

Some of these can be sampled at the Mankwe Gametrackers Outdoor Adventure Centre, such as 4x4 quad biking through the Letsatsing Game Park, or rhino tracking to get up close and personal with the magnificent and threatened white rhino. Meanwhile, golfers will be in their element, with a choice of two exceptional options in the Gary Player Golf Course and the Lost City Golf Course.

During our fam trip, we’ll enjoy a safari in the Pilanesberg National Park, home to the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino – as well as many types of antelope and more than 360 species of bird.

A safari here also makes for an excellent suggestion for families, as it offers the possibility of enjoying a malaria-free safari. Also great for families at Sun City is the fun-filled Valley of Waves water park.

The ultimate experience at Sun City is a unique Hot Air Balloon Safari at sunrise, giving an incomparable vantage of the Pilanesberg National Park and all its wildlife.

We will spend two nights at The Palace of the Lost City, an elegant 335-room hotel, whose highlights include an Olympic-sized pool, three fine dining restaurants and the Royal Spa.

SunLux Collection is part of Sun International, and the portfolio also includes The Boardwalk Hotel in Port Elizabeth and The Maslow in Sandton Johannesburg, which means it's possible to can create a memorable itinerary with all four properties.

“The SunLux Collection combines the importance of the journey with the richness of the destination. We like to say it’s not just a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but a journey you’ll revisit time and again,” says Fiona Malan, account director sales and marketing for Sun International in the UK.

“This trip will offer luxury travel professionals the chance to experience Cape Town and the Pilanesberg as we would like them to be able to present it to their customers.”

A diverse country

A diverse country

There’s never been a better time to consider travelling to this beautiful destination, edged on three sides by nearly 1,864 miles of coastline. South Africa offers incredible value for money, along with world-class facilities, making a luxury trip very affordable.

Of course the great year-round climate helps, making South Africa a good option whatever the time of year. It’s also a very vibrant country, with 11 official languages and many cultures, which has earned it the name of Rainbow Nation.

With all that in mind, it’s little wonder visitors from the UK continue to rise, with the country currently enjoying nearly 12% growth year-on-year for 2016 – that’s a total of 285,230 visitors from the UK between January-August.

This surge follows a number of successful trade initiatives run by South African Tourism to improve agents’ knowledge of the country, including a roadshow in March, while the tourism office has also launched a UK-specific website.

The website continues to host SA Specialist, South African Tourism’s online training programme, which upon completion means agents can market themselves as an SA Specialist. Combined with experiences from this trip, that training will ensure agents are well equipped to tell all their clients about the many highlights of this beautiful country.
