Legendary French chef Robuchon dies

French chef Joel Robuchon, who ran several restaurants in luxury hotels, has died after a long battle with cancer.

Robuchon, 73, was named Chef of the Century by the French restaurant guide Gault Millau in 1989 and held a total of 31 Michelin stars across his global restaurant network.

 

His empire includes restaurants at Hotel Metropole in Monaco, MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and Robuchon au Dome at the Lisboa Hotel in Macau. He also operated the L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon restaurant in London’s Covent Garden

 

According to reports, Robuchon died in Switzerland on Monday (August 6) – he had been treated for a pancreatic tumour more than a year ago.
