Kempinski launches hotel in Omani capital Muscat

Kempinski Hotel Muscat

Kempinski Hotels has opened a new property in Oman, within the Al Mouj development, writes Elisha Atkinson.

The hotel has 310 rooms and suites, plus 10 restaurants and bars including the interactive Kitchen Restaurant, a Thai street food venue and an Indian tea house.

The architecture is inspired by buildings in Old Muscat such as the Al Alam Palace and the Muttrah Corniche.

"It will offer a combination of local traditions inspired by Omani hospitality and world-class luxury to guests visiting the Sultanate,” said Carsten Weigandt, general manager of Kempinski Hotel Muscat.

The Al Mouj development sits on almost four miles of coastline and offers retail and dining facilities, a 400-dock marina and a PGA-standard 18-hole golf course.

Kempinski Hotel Muscat features a spa and health club designed by Swiss wellness expert Resense, with separate areas for men and women as well as a couples’ suite.

Henk Meyknecht, Kempinksi’s chief operating officer Middle East and Africa, said: “The opening in Muscat is part of the overall Middle Eastern growth strategy of Kempinski Hotels.

“As a European hotel operator we look forward to contributing to the growing success of the tourism sector in Muscat catering to a growing global audience of discerning travellers.”

Kempinski Hotels now manages 74 five-star properties in 32 countries around the world.
