One Aldwych set for full reopening

London boutique hotel will unveil refurbished rooms and suites this June.

London’s One Aldwych hotel is set to fully reopen in June after a major refurbishment.

The Covent Garden property, which originally opened in 1998, has already reopened the renovated Lobby Bar and Indigo restaurant, with guest rooms set to be unveiled in mid-June.

One Aldwych started its refurbishment in October and closed to guests in January 2019 to allow work to be completed on its rooms and public spaces.

The 102 refurbished rooms and suites, including four new one-bedroom suites, have been redesigned by Robert Angell, who has also worked on other luxury properties in London, such as The Connaught and The Berkeley.

The Lobby Bar and Indigo restaurant have been given a new look by Tom Strother and Steven Saunders of Fabled Studio.

Simon Hirst, the hotel’s managing director, said: “One Aldwych has always been a destination in its own right, a place to see. Not only is the building dynamic, but so is Covent Garden, our home, it’s changing all the time – and One Aldwych needs to reflect that: this is a natural evolution. This latest work builds on other developments, including the recent launch of Eneko Basque Kitchen & Bar and the full gym renewal.”
