The hotel has tasked interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon with redesigning the hotel entrance, The Promenade and the guest rooms and suites. Interior architecture and design specialist Martin Brudnizki Design Studio has been appointed to redesign the bar.

As part of the renovation The Dorchester will introduce the Cake & Flowers boutique, which is a joint venture between executive pastry chef Michael Kwan and florist Philip Hammond.

The outlet will be designed by Rochon and will have its own entrance on the Deanery Street corner of the hotel, with feature windows. It will sell hampers, bouquets, pastries, cakes, chocolates and Champagnes.

The hotel will remain open throughout the renovation over the summer, and following the updates, guests staying at the Mayfair property will be able to choose from new signature and junior suites.

Across all rooms and suites new colour palettes will be introduced, inspired by an English garden and featuring pale leaf greens, rose pinks, heather blue and lemon yellow.

The Dorchester’s facade will be rejuvenated with new lighting, and guests will arrive onto an enhanced forecourt, featuring green granite underfoot and a landscaped garden area. Two new pieces of art will be introduced in the open lobby.

The Promenade will continue to host dining experiences, including afternoon tea, and will feature a new area for guests to enjoy Champagne, seafood and entertainment.

A collection of contemporary artworks by British artists will also be revealed throughout The Promenade, which all focus on nature and the British landscape.

The hotel’s bar is being redesigned by Martin Brudnizki, and the space is described as taking inspiration from “the spirit and elegance of the roaring thirties, a time when manners were still important and yet mayhem was celebrated.”

The bar’s new layout allows for a dedicated Park Lane entrance and an outside terrace overlooking Hyde Park. It will also feature original drawings and celebrity photography from photographer Cecil Beaton, a 1930s-style Palladium leaf ceiling and a snug.
