Seaside Collection snaps up Maldives’ Finolhu resort

The purchase means the Germany-based group, which has just rebranded from Seaside Hotels, now has 11 properties with Finolhu in the Baa Atoll becoming its first resort in the Maldives. Seaside’s other resorts are in Germany and the Canary islands.

Seaside Collection’s co-owner Gregor Gerlach said Finolhu was a resort already aligned with the company’s “brand values”.

“Environmental protection is an important theme at the Seaside Collection and is something we have won awards for,” he said.

“Finolhu is largely self-sufficient and works closely with marine biologists and environmental experts, so it was a good fit for us."

Finolhu, which made its debut in 2016, consists of four islands with 125 beachfront and overwater villas, as well as four restaurants, spa, fitness centre and “jungle gym”, diving centre and kids club. It also opened an overnight “glamping” experience, Beach Bubble Tent, last year.

Seaside Collection is planning to hold a series of trade events over the next six months following the purchase of Finolhu.
