The Thailand-based resort and spa operator will open a 134-room resort on a 25-acre site on Ibiza’s Cala Xarraca Bay. Six Senses Ibiza, which is due to open in 2020, will also include a spa and residences.
It will be Six Senses’ third property in Europe – the company already features the Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal and is also developing a residential project in the French ski resort of Courchevel.
The brand also operates seven spas in the UK, France, Greece, Spain and Switzerland.
Neil Jacobs, chief executive of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, said: “We’re very excited to open our first resort, spa and residential project in Ibiza, a project that celebrates wellness, sustainability and community spirit.”
The Ibiza property will include townhouse suites, deluxe pool suites with private decks, beach cave suites and two six-bedroom mansions. There will also be nine private villas available for sale.
The resort, which is being designed and developed by Beach Box Ibiza, will also feature a 24-hour restaurant, The Market, with long communal dining tables, alongside a poolside raw food organic bar and El Chiringuito terrace serving tapas and barbecue seafood. In-suite private dining will also be available.
Jonathan Leitersdorf, from Beach Box Ibiza, added: “It is the first full-service hospitality experience with rich amenities not yet offered on the island.
“Partnering with a world-class operator such as Six Senses, together we will deliver a resort and residential community for all ages, while promoting the importance of sustainability and healthy living.”
Six Senses currently operates 11 resorts and 31 spas in 20 countries under the Six Senses, Six Senses Spas and Evason brands.
