MSC Cruises has confirmed tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo as the latest stars to be appearing at its christening for MSC Bellissima on March 2.
The pair will perform their duet Fall On Me from Bocelli’s new album, Si.
He will then sing during the traditional officers’ parade, which pays homage to the ship’s crew.
Other performances during the evening will come from Cirque du Soleil at Sea and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Nile Rodgers and his band Chic.
Hosting the evening’s proceedings as the MC will be Holly Willoughby.
Actress Sophia Loren will perform the traditional ribbon-cutting and officially name Bellissima.
Andrea Bocelli and his family have a long-standing relationship with MSC Cruises, dating back over 10 years.
In 2008 he performed at the christening of MSC Poesia in Dover and in 2017 he performed at the naming ceremony of MSC Seaside in Miami.
MSC supports the Andrea Bocelli Foundation through guest donations onboard MSC Seaside.
Bellissima is the second ship in Meraviglia class and the fourth of MSC’s next-generation ships to come into service in just over 18 months.
