Holiday park operator Eurocamp is to withdraw its product from UK high street travel agencies following a “strategic review of its distribution channels”.
The company said it had invested in its online platforms, and the success of these developments “combined with ongoing natural consumer shifts to these channels” had resulted in the firm “reconsidering its presence within the UK travel trade”, in favour of direct channels.
Eurocamp has issued formal notice to travel agent partners on the issue.
All existing booking will be honoured and all terms and conditions for any changes to bookings will remain in place for bookings already made by agents.
As a result of this decision, two people working in Eurocamp’s trade sales team will be made redundant.
Eurocamp chief operating officer, Stijn Depraetere, said: “We haven’t taken this decision lightly and we recognise the contribution and high levels of service delivered by the trade, and would like to thank everyone for their contribution.”
Cox & Kings, Holidaybreak’s owner, sold Eurocamp for just under £90 million in 2014 to French firm Homair Vacances.
