In-resort ski prices have fallen in three quarters of 27 surveyed resorts with double-digit drops in a third of them.
The new Ski Resort Report released by Post Office Travel Money in conjunction with Crystal Ski Holidays reviews the costs of everything from a ski pass and boot hire to lunch and a beer on the slopes.
It found once again that Bansko in Bulgaria was the cheapest at £259.34, making it the cheapest ski resort in Europe for the fifth year running.
Second was Slovenia’s Kranjska Gora which fell 12% to £264.13 while in third places was Italy’s Livigno at £286.29 after an 11% drop.
Fourth place was Austria’s Ellmau on £306.38 while Sestriere in Italy came fifth at £322.04. The first French resort to appear in the list was Morzine in sixth place at £333.02.
Andrew Brown, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: “Skiers heading to many resorts in Europe and in Canada too will benefit from sterling’s increased strength.
“This means that even where local prices have edged up, UK tourists will find the cost of skiing as well as meals and drinks noticeably cheaper this winter.
“While skiing remains cheapest in Bulgaria and Slovenia, our research reveals that long-established favourites in France, Austria and Italy are great value too.
“Livigno is a great bet for both solo skiers and families as are Morzine and Ellmau.
“However, bargain-hunters should exercise caution when considering Swiss resorts as sterling has not strengthened enough to counteract the effect of rising local prices.”
