Wow factor villas in the Med to book this summer

The Mediterranean is brimming with holiday villas with added wow factor, featuring everything from indoor spas to gyms. Andrew Doherty looks at what to book for this summer

Med villas with impressive features, from spas to infinity pools

Whether it’s a party pad featuring a pool bar and outdoor cinema or a more intimate property complete with infinity pool and stunning vistas, there are plenty of impressive villa options in the Med, many of which are still available to book this summer.

Here, we round up six options to suit a range of clients, from families seeking a luxurious getaway to spa lovers keen to pamper themselves in paradise.

Spa days

For small groups of couples looking to unwind in spectacular surroundings, Interhome’s four- bedroom Villa Palma in Croatia is an ideal option. Guests can relax in the villa’s indoor spa, which features a sauna and a hot tub, before cooling off in an outdoor infinity pool with hydro massage and waterfall features.

Situated on the north coast of the island of Korcula, the property is metres away from the beach, within walking distance of Prigradica bay and less than four miles away from the town of Blato. Here, clients can check out its museum and local restaurants, including the Mala Kapja, which offers a farm-to-table dining experience.

Book it: Interhome offers seven nights at Villa Palma from £7,064 for stays from July 2019.

Surrounded by private gardens and only a short drive away from the towns of Cisternino and Ostuni, CV Villa’s Trulli Fiori property in Italy’s Puglia region will appeal to mature clients with an appreciation of architecture – the towns are chock-full of restaurants, bars and sights of cultural and historical intrigue, including Ostuni Cathedral.

Conical roofs akin to church spires and rooms filled with Italian, English, Balinese and Moroccan furnishings give the four-bedroom villa an exotic feel, while sun worshippers can relax by the private pool before dining al fresco with food prepared on the terrace’s built-in barbecue.

Book it: A week’s stay is priced from £838pp (£6,702 based on eight sharing), with maid service included.

Happy families

Set in the hills above Spain’s Costa Blanca coastline, Villa Vista Clara – part of James Villa Holiday’s Luxury Collection – offers five en-suite bedrooms split over three floors, with standout features including an infinity pool, hot tub and a gym.

Billed by the operator as suitable for large families looking to celebrate a special occasion abroad, the property also includes a children’s play area and three balcony terraces should clients need some space.

Robert Tipler, head of product and contracting for the operator, says its location makes it ideal for exploring the local community. “Villa Vista Clara is a stone’s throw from a great variety of bars, cafes and supermarkets,” he says. “For a taste of great local cuisine, including some
of Costa Blanca’s finest seafood, take a short drive to Moraira, where clients will be spoilt for choice. This charming fishing village’s harbour is lined with a stunning selection of eateries, with something for everyone.”

Book it: James Villa Holidays offers seven nights from £1,159pp based on 10 sharing. Price is valid for stays from 2 August.

Honeymooners seeking a secluded romantic getaway should consider GIC The Villa Collection’s Erimitis View property on the Greek island of Paxos, says managing director Chris Wright.
“It’s the perfect property for two people... with spectacular views over the west coast where you get stunning sunsets that turn the cliffs pink.”

Highlights include a sea-view infinity pool and the option to add the services of a personal chef or concierge during the client’s stay.

Wright adds: “Being located in the centre of this small island makes it perfect for people who want to split their time between the port villages of Longos, Lakka and Gaios. The villa is only a few minutes from Magazia too, which has become quite cosmopolitan over the past few years with its organic supermarket, trendy bars, cafe, bakery and the best grillroom on the island.”

Book it: GIC The Villa Collection has a week’s stay from £951pp based on two sharing, including flights, ferry transfers and car hire.

For families with older children, Villa Ruya near Kalkan, Turkey, is a sure-fire option to impress, says Lucy Cook, general manager at Visions Holiday Group.

“I adore this property because of the uninterrupted sea view from the master suite bedroom. Anyone staying there is sure to say ‘wow’. Being on the five-star Villa Hotel Mahal estate, clients can access spa facilities too.”

Clients booking through villa specialists Ilios Travel (the trading name of Visions Holiday Group), can choose to add on daily deliveries of fresh bread or have a private chef cook at the property.
Additional features include an infinity pool, a wraparound terrace for outdoor dining and easy access to the Mahal Beach Club.

Cook also recommends that clients experience the rooftop terrace restaurants of nearby
Kalkan. “I’ve just returned from Kalkan, where I discovered the family-owned Small House restaurant. I had the most amazing calamari that was served with homemade sweet pepper relish. You can even buy a jar of it – a must for clients.”

Book it: Ilios Travel offers seven nights from £3,995 (villa only) based on August 2019 stays.

“Your clients will love unwinding in the spa room with modern sauna, steam bath and infrared technology. Or they can make use of the state-of-the-art gym before taking a dip in the beautiful pool overlooking the Aegean Sea.”

With several of the island’s best beaches close by, two outdoor dining areas and a large garden, sun worshippers have plenty of options to top up their tans here too.

Book it: Onefinestay offers stays from £11,000 per night between 29 June and 30 August 2019.
