Funway Holidays’ former long-time director has urged the travel sector to snap up the operator’s “tenacious” staff when it closes in September.
Funway announced today it would be ceasing trading on 30 September due to the “severe” impact of the coronavirus crisis.
Former managing director Melissa Tilling, who joined the operator as a director in 2008 and was promoted to managing director in 2017 - before standing down last August - said: “I am incredibly sad for the Funway Holidays people.
“From first hand experience I know how passionate, tenacious, committed and professional this group has been through the good times and the bad.
“Yet again Covid-19 has proven that shareholders have had to make some impossibly difficult decisions in unprecedented times and to end a brand that has enjoyed such incredible travel trade loyalty and success over 27 years must have been an extremely hard one to make.”
She added: “I urge any travel employer, with my personal recommendation, to find roles for this team who excel at every level.”
