Adventure company to offer small-ship guided itineraries on four rivers. Katherine Lawrey reports from G Adventures’ 25th anniversary celebrations in Toronto
G Adventures river cruises will be differentiated by their size, their active bias, and the ability for customer to dine off the ship in local restaurants.
As part of the adventure company’s 25th anniversary celebrations this week in Toronto, founder Bruce Poon Tip revealed it would be chartering four vessels next year and offering multi-night itineraries on the Ganges, Mekong, Amazon and Burgundy rivers.
“The numbers will be much smaller than your average river cruise boat,” he explained, “making the experience more nimble and mobile. We will have bikes onboard for guests to use, and we will navigate narrow waterways to visit small villages.”
He said there would be kitchen/dining facilities onboard but where possible the plan was to eat off the ship. “Every culture expresses itself through food, and although our times we will have to eat onboard, our goal is to be in ports of an evening, and dine in local places in towns and villages.”
