The independent agency has climbed up the list of the best companies to work for in the UK.
The Sunderland-based agency ranked 74th in the Sunday Times list of the best 100 mid-sized companies for employees – up from 91st place in 2018.
Hays scored highly with its 1,640 employees in the categories of their managers, personal growth and wellbeing, but staff were “at their least happy with issues around pay”.
The report said that a “typical” travel consultant working for Hays earned £15,450 a year with a bonus of £1,604.
Also making it onto the list of mid-sized UK companies was The Landmark London, a 120-year-old hotel in the capital which was awarded sixth position, making it the highest ranking hotel to be included in the list.
Other major travel companies to feature as the UK’s best companies to work for included Bourne Leisure, the operator of Butlin’s, Haven Leisure and Warner Leisure Hotels, which ranked fifth in the list of the top 25 big companies.
Hotel giant Marriott International came in one place lower in sixth position in the list of larger companies.
Also featuring was travel management company Click Travel, which ranked 67th in the list of the 100 best small companies to work for.
The vast majority of Click’s employees (88%) felt proud to work at the company, while there were also high marks for “giving something back” through its charity initiatives.
