MP for Faversham and Mid Kent Helen Whately has been appointed Britain’s new tourism minister.
Whately takes over from MP for Taunton Deane Rebecca Pow, who held the post for just four months.
She has been appointed parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Whately’s full title is parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
Beyond tourism, her brief also includes the arts, museums and cultural property, heritage, libraries, and the government’s “overall approach to culture and place”.
