US singer Kelly Clarkson has christened Norwegian Cruise Line’s latest ship, Norwegian Encore, in Miami.
More than 3,500 guests attended the ceremony at Port Miami last week, overseen by Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings; outgoing NCL president and chief executive Andy Stuart and his successor Harry Sommer.
The event saw a performance of the musical Kinky Boots, which debuted onboard Encore when the ship launched earlier this month.
TTG was given a sneak peek of Encore during its European shakedown sailing.
After the ship’s traditional blessing, the Grammy Award-winning Clarkson, christened the vessel before performing a string of her hits.
The milestone marks the last ship in NCL’s Breakaway Plus class - which first debuted with the introduction of Norwegian Escape in 2015.
Escape was joined by sister ships Joy, Bliss, and now Encore, with NCL’s latest vessel beginning its inaugural season in the eastern Caribbean.
