Both Ryanair and Wizzair enjoyed a buoyant end to the summer with passenger numbers and load factors rising.
The Irish airline carried 9.55 million customers, up 12%. Load factor rose 4 percentage points to 94%.
“Ryanair’s Kenny Jacobs said: "Ryanair’s September traffic grew by 12% to 9.55m customers, while our load factor jumped 4% points to 94%.
"These record monthly numbers and load factors are due to our lower fares, our stronger forward bookings and the continuing success of our ’Always Getting Better’ customer experience programme, which continues to deliver stronger than expected traffic and load factors on our biggest ever summer schedule.”
Hungary based Wizzair saw passenger numbers rise 22% to 1.8 million with load factor up 3.3 percentage points to 90.9%.
