Namibia, Mexico and Oman are among 12 new destinations in Explore’s 2017-18 Family Adventures programme.
The programme has an early-booking offer, with 10% off all bookings made by October 5. In addition, the first 50 families to book will receive a free GoPro camera.
The Namibia programme is based on a 15-day itinerary that includes wildlife spotting at the waterholes of the Etosha National Park and kayaking along the coast off the old German colony of Swakopmund. It leads in at £2,599 per adult or £2,499 per child, including flights.
The new Mexico itinerary centres on the Yucatan Peninsula. It includes a visit to the archaeological site of Calakmul, a cruise through a mangrove forest to view flamingos, swimming in sinkholes and kayaking on the Bacalar Lagoon.
In Oman, the seven-day holiday includes a camel ride across Wahiba Sands following the nomadic Bedouin and a night in a desert camp on the edge of the Great Sand Sea.
The programme also has trips specifically aimed at families with younger children at a more relaxed pace. Explore’s eight-day Young Family Sicily Adventure is based in a family-run hotel in Letojanni.
It includes a trip up Mount Etna by cable car and 4x4, pizza cooking lessons at an organic farm and a speedboat ride to the Blue Cave with snorkelling in Giardini-Naxos Bay. The package with flights starts from £1,299 per adult or £1,195 for children.
Explore’s managing director Ashley Toft said: “We’re really excited about our new family trips and we’re confident that there is something for every family. There’s now more variety, tailored itineraries for those with young children and unusual destinations and experiences to entertain families with older teenagers who may be leaving school or heading off to university.”
