With exchange rates changing daily, the stability of all-inclusive hotels is making them more popular than ever with Brits. Octavia Bromell looks at what’s new for 2017.

All-inclusive holidays are enjoying some well-deserved time in the limelight. After a turbulent 12 months, clients will be turning towards package deals that allow them to budget properly without the worry of unsteady exchange rates affecting their stay. From spa retreats to family-focused hotels, here are new and recommended all-inclusive resorts that should be on your radar this year.

Sensimar Cabo Verde and Melia Llana Beach Hotel, Cape Verde

Sensimar Cabo Verde and Melia Llana Beach Hotel, Cape Verde

Cape Verde now has its first adult-only hotels in the form of the Sensimar Cabo Verde and the Melia Llana Beach Hotel. Part of a larger complex run by The Resort Group, they sit next to the Bikini Beach Club on the island of Sal, famous for its white sand beaches. Both benefit from a tropical garden and beachside location, plus the venue will attract top DJs for year-round entertainment. Together the two hotels have 600 suites, two pools, a spa and a gym.


What’s included? A buffet restaurant plus one dinner at each of the four a la carte restaurants during each stay. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and snacks are also included in the price.

The family-friendly Club Med Da Balaia on the Algarve will be reopening after renovations this year. A flying trapeze school and other circus classes will now be offered, along with the previously available daily activities for kids such as a soccer academy. With its own golf school, and several golf clubs in the surrounding area, the resort is ideal for those who love teeing off.


What’s included? Main restaurant The Balaia serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from an international buffet while the Vasco da Gama restaurant, serves late lunch. Three bars serve complimentary snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Use of the sports school is also included.

Neilson Buca Beachclub, Greec

Neilson Buca Beachclub, Greec

Reopening this summer as a Neilson all-inclusive resort, Buca Beachclub is an adult-only 53-room hotel at Analipsi Beach near Kalamata. It shares the experiences on offer at next-door neighbour Messini Beachclub, with seven tennis courts, plus facilities for sailing, road cycling, mountain biking and wind surfing. There is also an exclusive yoga area. The a la carte club-board service includes the boutique restaurant on-site, with both air-conditioned and alfresco dining available.


What’s included? All activities from windsurfing to tennis and climbing. Breakfast and lunch can be buffet or a la carte, and four a la carte evening meals are also complimentary.

Sunwing Kalithea Beach, Greece

New to the UK market this summer, the four-star beachfront Sunwing Kalithea Beach on the island of Rhodes is a family hotel. All rooms are family-sized, and the hotel has two dedicated kids’ pools. There are family shows five nights a week, a family lounge and a juice and smoothie bar all included in the package. Fitness facilities include a running track, tennis courts, football pitches, an outdoor gym and exercise classes.


What’s included? Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, with themed evenings. Hotel bars serve a range of drinks, including cocktails, from 10am to midnight.

Zoetry Montego Bay, Jamaica

Zoetry Montego Bay, Jamaica

Zoetry Montego Bay opened in Jamaica in December last year, and features 49 luxury suites set by the Caribbean Sea. Outdoor whirlpools, an infinity pool and a flowing pool that winds through the resort highlight its focus on wellness. Non-motorised watersports are offered with the all-inclusive package, as well as local sightseeing and nighttime floodlit glass-bottom boat rides.


What’s included? The Endless Privileges package includes gourmet dining in one of the three restaurants, whose bars serve unlimited drinks. Suite mini-bars are refreshed twice daily, and sparkling wine and fresh fruit once a day. A 20-minute wellness experience or fitness consultation is also included.

Nonsuch Bay Resort, Antigua

After going all-inclusive last year, the Nonsuch Bay Resort has seen a bump in sales. The resort is set in 40 acres of private gardens with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Apartment-style accommodation gives seclusion and privacy. Mark Whinney, sales and marketing director at the resort, says: “The decision to go all-inclusive wasn’t a difficult one as it seems this is the direction consumer preferences are moving in. All-inclusive offers give our guests fantastic value for money with no hidden charges at the end of the holiday.”


What’s included? A complimentary children’s club from four years and sailing programme for older children in school holidays. Watersports also include snorkelling, kayaking and boat excursions. A full breakfast buffet, buffet lunch, three-course dinner, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are all included.

Santikos Marpunta Village Hotel, Greece

Santikos Marpunta Village Hotel, Greece

Following a €3 million refurbishment last spring, Marpunta Village on the island of Alonissos will be available to UK guests this summer. The 104 rooms and 15 family suites have all been refurbished, with a boutique vibe. The property is set in a private pine forest and has three private beaches, plus there’s plenty for families to enjoy including tennis courts, an outdoor playground, football pitch and basketball court.


What’s included? Meals at Marpunta’s main buffet restaurant, and clients can also have lunch at the seaside restaurant (reservation required), or opt for a later breakfast at the pool bar. Drinks are complimentary with meals, and are available throughout the day with snacks at the pools and lobby bar. There’s a mini-club for kids aged 4-13 and junior club for those aged 13-17. Watersports are also included.

Opening in May, luxury resort Dhigali sits in the idyllically remote Raa Atoll and can be accessed by seaplane from Male airport. Clients can snorkel on the house reef, try watersports on the lagoon or kick back on the pristine beaches. There are 180 accommodation options, from beach bungalows near the shore to overwater villas and lagoon villas with their own pool. Dining is authentic, with a choice of five restaurants, plus a plush sunset bar.


What’s included? Those opting for the Dine Around All Inclusive package can eat breakfast at main restaurant Capers, and lunch and dinner at any open restaurant. Drinks including wines, beer and soft drinks are all complimentary.
