Newmarket Holidays has entered a consultation period with its staff as part of a “business review”.
Following the sale of its specialist educational tours division to Next Generation Travel on Monday, October 15, the escorted tours operator said it was conducting a business review of its UK coach holiday operations.
Newmarket said its UK coach operations account for less than 15% of annual group and the review was designed to assess the future strategy of the organisation and further strengthen its core activities.
A spokesman for Newmarket said: “Over the past 35 years we have built an enviable reputation in the escorted tours and holiday market; we have a loyal customer base; a strong financial base; and excellent relationships with our suppliers and partners.
“We also, and most importantly, have an experienced and devoted team.
“The market is very competitive and demands that today’s modern travel business needs to be agile so that it can continue to adapt and flourish when opportunities present themselves in order to remain strong and successful.”
Newmarket offers escorted tours and holidays by coach in the UK, by air across the UK and throughout Europe and has also built a strong portfolio to the US and Canada, India, Southeast Asia and Africa.
