A member of TTG’s 30 Under 30 initiative has launched an online community aiming to become “the Wikipedia for solo travellers”.
Margaux Marshall’s website, The Lone Travellers gives access to information and in-destination recommendations for tourists travelling on their own.
The platform, which went live this week, includes advice on securing visas, travelling around safely, currency queries and restaurant recommendations written by travellers for travellers.
The Lone Travellers currently features information on countries in South East Asia, North America and a number of other city locations, with Marshall expecting to grow the amount of content and destination’s covered “over the coming months and years”.
“In the sea of blogs, Facebook groups, publications and Google – the available information for travellers is vast and time consuming to access,” she said. “The Lone Travellers offers access to the important information in just three clicks.”
The London-based entrepreneur, who graduated from Loughborough University in 2013 with a degree in international business, is presently running the site in her spare time.
She said the platform would provide useful knowledge “to consumers and agents alike” with users creating their own profiles and contributing information about their real life travel experiences which is then edited and fact checked by community members.
