Luxury operator Abercrombie & Kent will set up a dedicated DMC in the US next year to capitalise on “growing global demand” for luxury, experiential travel in the country.
The new office, which will begin operations on 1 January next year, will further expand A&K’s global reach.
The operator currently has more than 55 offices and 2,500 employees on the ground in more than 30 countries.
A&K said the move would allow it to provide ground operating services in the US to travel advisors, tour operators, cruise lines and other travel sellers and operators.
“There is a growing global demand for luxury experiential travel in the US,” said Jonathan White, A&K executive vice-president destination management.
“We feel it is important to establish our own office in North America to guarantee the kind of insider access, personalised service and seamless attention to detail discerning travellers expect.”
Marty Behr has been appointed managing director of the new US operation, who A&K said would bring decades of experience in luxury travel across the US and Canada to the role, and a strong background in itinerary design.
He has previously been recognised by Conde Nast Traveler as a top travel specialist for national parks.
