Yorkshire agency Tyler Brown Travel has rewarded social care worker Michelle Adamson with a holiday to the Caribbean.
The independent agency, which has offices in Bradford and Halifax, held a competition to find a “social care hero” with Adamson, who works for the Caring Connections charity, being chosen as the winner.
Adamson wins a two-week luxury trip to the Caribbean island of Nevis including flights and a villa stay. She was presented with her voucher for the holiday last week, alongside her partner, Danny.
Tyler Brown Travel founder James Brown, who was born on Nevis and has also worked in social care, said: “Not all superheroes are visible, and this has been more evident in recent months with our frontline social care workers placing their lives on the line for the communities they serve.
“We decided it was right to raise their profile and in doing this shine a light on the sector by raising the profile of the social care sector worker. We wanted to really show how valuable and grateful we are for our key workers within our societies.”
Adamson was selected to win the holiday prize from more than 200 nominations after being put forward by her boss Paul Growney.
Brown added: “Being born on the beautiful Caribbean island of Nevis, I felt ‘what better place for a social care hero to take a well-deserved holiday?’
“I was so moved and impressed that Michelle co-ordinated a range of TikTok videos celebrating social care workers.
“Michelle started a local social campaign highlighting the importance of their work and also to celebrate the social care workforce. Michelle conducted a range of interviews on the radio and in local and national news outlets, all helping to raise fellow carers’ spirits and to show how much they are valued.”
