Celebrity launches enhanced agent training ahead of Flora debut

Celebrity Cruises has launched an enhanced agents’ training manual to coincide with this weekend’s launch of its first ship designed exclusively for the Galapagos Islands.

Celebrity Flora begins Galapagos cruises on 30 June

Celebrity Flora launches on Sunday 23 June, sailing from Baltra Island. The brand’s e-learning section, Celebrity Passport, available on Celebrity Central.co.uk, will feature new and extended information about the ship from 1 July.

Nicola McNeish, Celebrity’s UK and Ireland head of sales, said: “We’ve already had fantastic interest in Celebrity Flora from many of our trade partners, who are understandably excited about its innovative features.

“Our customers share our passion for environmental stewardship and, as one of the most eco-friendly ships of its size in the Galapagos Islands, we are so proud of Celebrity Flora and our relationship with godmother and prominent environmental leader, Yolanda Kakabadse.”

The enhanced training programme features ‘bite-size’ training modules highlighting the ship’s features, along with video footage and images.

The vessel has anchorless technology to protect the ocean floor, all-suite accommodation with personal attendants and onboard certified naturalists.

The ship is the first vessel in the Galapagos to be equipped with cutting-edge oceanographic research equipment, known as Oceanscope. The programme builds on a 20-year plus relationship with University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. This benefits from a cruise ship’s consistent itinerary to create a cost-effective way for scientists to monitor ocean circulation.

Celebrity Flora’s maiden voyage is a seven-night Galapagos Inner Loop sailing from Baltra on 30 June.
