A singer who caused a Jet2.com flight to be diverted has been landed with a near £25,000 bill.
Kyle Falconer, who is due to support Liam Gallagher on tour next year, was ordered to pay the £14,000 costs of diverting the flight to the French city of Nantes plus £9,000 in legal bills and a £1,000 fine.
The Daily Record reports that Falconer, lead singer with The View, had squared up to a passenger and made a homophobic remark to a crew member.
The flight had been en route from Reus to Glasgow in June 2016 when Falconer, who had been drinking heavily, created a commotion when told he could not sit next to his fiancée.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard that Falconer was “deeply ashamed of his behaviour” and that family and friends had had to help pay Jet2.com’s diversion bill. The airline has banned Falconer for life and he has since received treatment at a rehab centre in Thailand.
