Air Transat signs up to Worldwide by easyJet connections platform

Travellers arriving at Gatwick from 78 European and African locations will soon benefit from more connecting flights to Canada with Air Transat through the Worldwide by easyJet platform.

A further agreement with GatwickConnections will ensure easyJet passengers enjoy a “seamless” transition to any connection, regardless of interline agreement.

Annick Guerard, Air Transat chief operating officer, said: “Gatwick has been a European mainstay for Air Transat for 30 years, with daily direct flights to Toronto as well as departures to major Canadian cities such as Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. Moreover, it serves as one of easyJet’s main airports.

“This agreement reinforces Gatwick’s importance for Air Transat. It makes us even more versatile, as we open up a range of possibilities to a new clientele looking to come to Canada.”

Launched last September, Worldwide by easyJet now boasts partnerships with more than 4,000 outbound locations and destinations bookable in combination with partner airlines.

Travellers passing through Gatwick who book a flight through the Worldwide by easyJet platform will have access to a wider range of flight options to Canada and other destinations in Europe.

EasyJet says with a minimum connection time of two hours 30 minutes, passengers can travel “with their minds at ease”.

Johan Lundgren, easyJet chief executive, added: “We have been delighted with the appetite of partner airports and airlines to expand Worldwide across our network and continue to broaden our focus to launch more airline partners and add connectivity to more of our biggest airports. Tens of millions of connecting passengers travel each year with journeys which begin or end in Europe.”

GatwickConnects allows passengers, in one transaction, to book connecting flights with airlines that don’t share interline agreements.

A dedicated baggage counter also allows Worldwide passengers to check int heir bags and pick up their boarding pass for their connection, speeding up the transition.

From November 1, all Air Transat services at Gatwick have relocated to the airport’s North Terminal where easyJet is based to improve connectivity.
