American Express Global Business Travel has appointed David Thompson as its new chief information and technology officer.
Thompson will join the travel management company from financial firm Western Union where he was chief technology officer. He will be based in Phoenix, Arizona, when he joins American Express GBT later this year.
Doug Anderson, chief executive of American Express GBT, said: “Technology and innovation are central to our business. It is crucial, therefore, to have someone with David’s experience and expertise driving our strategy. I am delighted to welcome him to the organisation.”
In his new role, Thompson will have responsibility for enterprise technology, IT operations, data systems, information security and product development.
Thompson previously worked for technology firm Symantec, Oracle and PeopleSoft, after starting his career in the US Air Force.
