Pilots union Balpa will resume talks with British Airways on Monday in an effort to agree terms on a new pay deal and avert potential summer strike action.
BA last week (31 July) lost its Court of Appeal bid to annul Balpa’s strike ballot, but the union agreed to return to government conciliation service Acas for further talks until the end of the week.
While no resolution was reached, Balpa said in a statement both sides would resume talks on Monday (5 August).
Balpa is yet to announce any strike dates and says it is “committed to finding a negotiated settlement” to the dispute.
The union would be required to give 14 days’ notice of any strike action.
Balpa says its members deserve a larger portion of BA owner IAG’s £3 billion annual profits, just shy of £2 billion of which is generated by BA.
BA, meanwhile, insists its three-year, 11.5% pay offer is “fair” and has been accepted by other unions representing BA staff such as Unite and the GMB.
Some 93% of Balpa members voted in favour of strike action last month (22 July) on a 90% turnout.
