Carnival UK has promoted Alex White to the newly created position of vice president of sales.
White, who was one of TTG’s 30 Under 30 intake of travel’s brightest young stars in 2013-14, will lead the sales teams for P&O Cruises and Cunard when he takes up his new role on December 1.
He is currently head of sales at Princess Cruises UK, having originally joined Carnival as an account manager for Complete Cruise Solution.
White will report to Paul Ludlow, P&O’s Cruises’ senior vice president of sales and marketing, when he takes up his new position.
Ludlow said: “During his time at Princess, he led a sales team, which grew sales through travel agents for Princess Cruises, he played an important role in improving the commercial performance on the brand in the UK.”
White’s new role is part of a restructure, which is designed to create “greater brand distinction” between the P&O and Cunard brands, and support agents to target new customers.
“This ethos will apply to every aspect of marketing and none more so than in the sales arena where we will be looking to sell each brand on its distinct merits and to distinct audiences,” said White.
“This differentiation will incorporate how we talk to agents and work with them to support future sales.”
Jeremy McKenna will remain in position as head of partner sales and will report into Alex White.
Carnival has begun a recruitment process for a new head of sales for Princess Cruises to replace White. The new recruit will report to Tony Roberts, vice president UK & Europe for Princess.
