Celebrity Cruises is ordering a fifth Edge-class ship for delivery in 2024.
Parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd said it had agreed a deal for the new ship with French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
Celebrity Edge was launched in late 2018 and there are three other Edge-class ships already ordered and scheduled for delivery in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Richard Fain, chairman and chief executive of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, said: “Edge class made an immediate hit with Celebrity Cruises guests and is a state-of-the-art example of technical excellence and elegant design. We can’t wait to build the next one.”
Celebrity’s fifth Edge-class ship is scheduled to be delivered in autumn 2024.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and chief executive of Celebrity Cruises, added: “Celebrity Edge has delighted our guests and affirmed Celebrity Cruises as the leading modern luxury brand.
“Chantiers de l’Atlantique has been a brilliant partner and we look forward to creating another amazing vessel with them.”
