Travel agents working to raise funds for the families of an apprentice and her boyfriend killed in the Manchester terror attack have doubled their fundraising target.
Westoe Travel apprentice Chloe Rutherford and her boyfriend Liam Curry were both killed in the attack at Manchester Arena in May, along with 20 others.
The agency’s owner Graeme Brett, along with Ken Garrity of Ken Garrity Travel and Jill Waite from Pole Travel, have been raising awareness of the pair ever since.
A JustGiving page initially aimed to raise £10,000, but that has already been surpassed, and there is a raffle named "Together Forever" underway.
Brett said: “With the amazing support from the Travel industry we have passed the original target of £10,000 but having seen the challenges the two families face we doubled our efforts to try to get to £20,000.
“The total so far from the Just Giving donations, raffle ticket sales and donations is £17,900 and we are making a final push to reach the target of £20,000 by August 31.”
The winning raffle tickets will be drawn at a special event on August 31 at The Customs House in South Shields with a celebrity guest.
“We will then be presenting the cheques to the families and they want to take the opportunity to personally thank everyone who has supported the fundraising,” added Brett.
