C&M Travel Recruitment has launched a dedicated travel technology division.
The department – which begins operations today (August 9) - will recruit solely for technology positions at firms across the travel sector.
C&M said it had been created the division as a result of “a marked increase in new technology vacancies and candidates in recent years” with the total number of travel-based technology roles registered with the company rising by 21% since 2015.
The recruitment specialist added that the number of candidates with “travel technology experience” had also increased - by 29% - during the same period.
The new division will be led by Simon Woods who has amassed 11 years of experience working in IT recruitment, including eight years specialising in travel technology roles.
During that time he has placed staff at the likes of British Airways, Amadeus, Tui, Thomas Cook, Amadeus and Virgin Atlantic.
Woods said: "I am delighted to join C&M and I’m over the moon to have the opportunity to lead the new travel technology division.
"C&M’s strength lies in the travel sector – we know the big players and the main contacts and have a network that is unparalleled compared to any generic IT recruiter.”
Barbara Kolosinska, director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, added: "We’re always looking for new opportunities to diversify and we’ve wanted to set up a travel technology department for some time because we’ve felt there is a real gap in the market, but we never previously had the right people to make it work.
“As soon as we met Simon and discovered his knowledge and expertise of the sector, we realised he would be a great fit for C&M and is the perfect person to launch the department, and we’re sure he’ll make it a huge success.
"Most travel companies currently have to seek the help of generic IT recruiters to fill their technology roles because these are essentially their only option, so we are extremely excited to launch this division and position ourselves ahead of the field."
