A Thomas Cook Airlines passenger was held by police in Italy after having a row with his wife and storming off the flight as it was being refuelled.
The Daily Mail reports that Peter Kempton fled the aircraft when it made an unscheduled stop in Brindisi on its way from East Midlands airport to Corfu. Police intervened and the crew ordered his wife off the flight. A Cook spokesperson said the matter was now in the hands of police in Italy.
The incident is the latest blow to the image of British tourists at the southern Italian airport, as it comes only days after another Briton was fined €3,000 after defecating on the tarmac at Brindisi upon his arrival on a Ryanair flight.
