Emirates has reported a record year after carrying 410,000 passengers between Dubai and Glasgow.
The figure recorded for the year ending March 2016 is four times higher than at the launch of the route in 2004, writes Ellie Mayhew. A total of 3.35 million passengers, have taken the flight in the 12 years since.
The key markets for Glasgow include China, Taiwan, Korea, Dubai and Singapore.
Emirates vice president, UK, Laurie Berryman said: “Emirates’ commitment to Glasgow has never been stronger.
“We’re seeing very impressive passenger figures on the route as the demand by Glaswegians to travel to Dubai and beyond remains robust.
“It’s also reassuring to see the continued growth in businesses choosing to export their products across our route map, which is testament to an outward looking economy that is eager to do business with the world.
“We’ve had an extremely positive 12 years, and from all our data it seems we’re on track for another successful 12, working with local people and companies to help them travel to and do business with the East.”
With a double daily service, Emirates was the first international airline to offer an executive lounge at Glasgow airport which opened in July 2014.
