Eurostar has announced plans to operate a reduced timetable over the next week as the national general strike in France continues to disrupt travel.
The ongoing strike has been causing cancellations to Eurostar and other travel services since 5 December and the train operator’s latest reduced timetable runs until 28 December.
Eurostar’s direct ski trains from London to Moutiers and Bourg St Maurice in the French Alps on Friday (20 December) and Saturday (21 December) are also having to change their departure times because of the industrial action.
“Due to ongoing national strike action in France closing some railway lines in the Alps region we have had no option but to change the departure times of the direct night ski train on Friday 20 December and the direct day ski train on 21 December,” said Eurostar in its update.
“These unavoidable changes ensure that both trains can still run by avoiding the line closures put in place by SNCF.”
Eurostar is advising customers booked on these two ski trains to “disregard the original times shown on printed or digital tickets”.
Train 9096, originally due to depart St Pancras at 19:45 on 20 December will now leave at 07:19 on 21 December, while train 9092, due to depart London at 09:45 on 21 December will leave earlier at 08:22 on 21 December.
