A family’s holiday was cancelled over a ‘pricing error’ after they were sold a Florida trip for £200 per person.
Kristopher Meredith, 29, and partner Paul Hales booked a 15-day break to Florida for six people and were quoted a price of £200 each at a Thomson shop in Manchester on Saturday, the Mirror reports.
However the family has since been told by the tour operator that the holiday was cancelled because of a pricing error.
An email read: “Unfortunately it is part of our terms and conditions in regards to errors in pricing, however if you wish to cancel the holiday we are able to waiver the cancellation charges and offer you a free cancellation.”
Meredith told the Manchester Evening News: “We just thought it was a good deal. We weren’t sure how much it should have cost but we were delighted.
“In the shop we said: ‘are you sure’, and the lady said: ‘that’s the price’.”
The party had put down a £750 deposit.
Meredith, who lives in Manchester city centre, added: “When we got the email saying it had been cancelled we were devastated.
“We have been offered a refund but that’s not what we want, we booked the holiday and they should honour it.”
A spokesperson for Thomson and First Choice said: “We would like to apologise to Mr Meredith for his booking experience and the inconvenience caused.
"While we always offer exceptional value for money, unfortunately a rare system error last weekend resulted in a small number of holidays being sold for prices that were simply too good to be true.
"As a result and in line with our terms and conditions, affected customers - including Mr Meredith’s party - have been contacted to have the incorrectly priced booking cancelled and the money paid returned.”
